Getting Started

What is an EOS account and how do I get one?

An EOS account is an account on the EOS blockchain.

It will allow you to store your EOS tokens, TRYBE tokens, and any other EOS-based tokens in your own wallet.

When you earn TRYBE on our website, your TRYBE is kept in our wallet. But if you want to withdraw your TRYBE so that you can send it to someone else or exchange it for another currency (usually EOS or your fiat currency) then you will need to create your own EOS account and download some wallet software.

The easiest way to create an EOS account is with the EOS Lynx wallet. This wallet also allows you to access and manage your tokens.

Visit the EOS Lynx site here: https://eoslynx.com/

Alternatively, follow the instructions in this article here

Once you have created an EOS account then you will need to enter your account name into your Trybe settings.

Where do I attach my EOS account to my Trybe account?

1. Login to your Trybe account then go to your settings at https://trybe.one/profile/settings.

2. Click EOS account on the right-hand side then type your EOS account name into the field as shown in the image below and press enter on your keyboard.

1.png

If successful your EOS account name will appear in green next to Your current EOS account name.

Setting up Scatter and a wallet to use the TRYBE token

Now that you have an EOS account, one of the next important things you need to do in order to use it properly is to set up a wallet.

If you used the EOS Lynx app to create your EOS account, then you already have a wallet.

A wallet is an app that allows you to access and use your new EOS account. You can use it to send, receive, or check your balances.

Another great wallet for EOS is Scatter, and you should set up Scatter even if you are already using Lynx.

Scatter not only allows you to perform transactions, but it also allows you to connect your EOS account to many other websites safely.

To install Scatter, just go here: https://get-scatter.com/

Use their support tutorials to import your EOS account into Scatter once it is installed.

Once you have installed Scatter and imported your account then you can perform transactions on many EOS apps (including Trybe).

Scatter is required to withdraw TRYBE, stake TRYBE, or Power Up your TRYBE account.

How do I purchase Trybe?

To purchase Trybe you first need an EOS account with an EOS balance, if you do not already have an EOS account please see How do I create an EOS account?

You will also need to have Scatter installed on your computer, and import your EOS account into Scatter. Visit https://get-scatter.com/ to learn more (their support section will tell you how to import your EOS account into Scatter).

After creating an EOS account, you will need to make sure it has some EOS in it. The easiest way to buy EOS is from your local crypto exchange or an exchange like Coinbase.com

Once you have bought EOS from a major exchange, you can then withdraw that EOS to your new EOS account.

Once you have done that then follow these steps:

1 Visit Newdex.io (This link directs you straight to the Trybe/EOS trade pair)

2. If you see the Trybe/EOS trade pair top left-hand side of the screen then you are in the right place.

3. Scroll down and click market orders.

4. Enter the amount of EOS you wish to spend when purchasing your Trybe tokens.

5. Click the buy button.

1.png

6. Wait for the scatter pop up and allow the transaction.

Your Trybe tokens will appear in your EOS account and can be viewed with any EOS explorer like bloks.io

Withdraw, Power Up, Staking, and Airdrops

What is the difference between Airdrops, Power Ups, Withdrawals, and Staking?

Airdrops:

Airdrops are done once per month based on your entire TRYBE balance. To receive airdrops you need to have an EOS account and you need to put that EOS account name in your Trybe settings.

You will also need Scatter installed to claim your airdrop.

Each month, after the cutoff time (see our wallet on our website) then you can claim your airdrop if available.

Power Ups:

To Power Up your Trybe account, you need to add TRYBE tokens from your EOS account. To get TRYBE tokens, you can buy them on an exchange (read this article here).

Once you Power Up to the next level, then you will have more rating power on our site, and you will earn more tokens in the weekly payout.

Withdrawals:

Withdrawals means to withdraw your TRYBE tokens from our site to your EOS account. You will need an EOS account and Scatter installed in order to withdraw.

Staking:

If you have TRYBE in your EOS account and you would like to earn a bonus, then you can “stake” them in our wallet. Staking means to lock them up (either for 90 or 180 days). At the end of the staking period, you will be able to claim your tokens and collect your bonus.

You will need to have an EOS account with TRYBE tokens in it, as well as Scatter installed, to stake your tokens.

Visit our wallet here to stake: https://trybe.one/wallet/staking

How can I earn Trybe tokens?

There are a few ways you can earn Trybe tokens, and these include creating content on the platform, airdrops and competitions.

Content Creation
Content creation is the primary way to earn tokens on the platform. By creating good content and sharing this content for others to see you will be maximising your exposure. By doing this, you will get followers, and people will rate your post. Higher ratings will mean higher rewards, so content is key here.

If you would like to learn more about how the rating system works and how to rate others, please try here.

Power Ups
By Powering Up your account, you not only have more voting power and earn bonus tokens when people rate you, but you will receive more tokens in our weekly payout.

Note: to Power Up, you will need Scatter installed and an EOS account with liquid TRYBE tokens.

*Bonus Rewards: when someone rates your content, you will receive a bonus based on your level.

Competitions
We don’t always have competitions on; however, it is worth checking to see if we do. Check out the latest articles from Jimmy and see if there is a competition running.

You can also go to our competition category and see if any of our users are running any. Good Luck!

Invite Friends
We do have a referral program where you can refer friends to earn tokens. The referral program helps us all as it means we get new users and you will also gain more people interested in viewing your content and rating it.

Make Friends
Making friends in the community is vital for people to gain more tokens. More friends = more people viewing your content. However, this does not guarantee good ratings so make sure you are writing good content.

How do I write an article?

First, please go to ‘Create Article’ at the top of the page (As seen in the picture).

1.jpg

Rules

Once there you may or may not see the posting rules. We have a few rules on Trybe on how & what content to post. Here is a quick list of rules you may need to know.

1. Content must be 100% your own.
2. Post titles cannot be all capitals and should look presentable.
3. There must be a minimum of 300 words in the article.
4. You must upload a Featured Image
5. All quoted material should be in quotation marks and sourced.
6. To be considered for monetisation create content that is educational or informative.
7. Any photos that are not your own must be sourced.

Most of all we are looking for quality content, and we are primarily a Crypto and Business media platform built to educate.

Posting Content

Here is what you should see when you first enter the post.

2.jpg

If you need to add media into your post, you can click the icons on the right-hand side. If you are trying to embed a video, please use the URL at the top of the YouTube page and NOT the embed URL.

For adding a featured image and selecting a category, you will need to click on metadata as seen in the picture above. Here you can also select the experience level of the post and if the post is in a series. You can also add Tags and show if this post is published elsewhere to help the reviewer tell if this post is your content.

Publishing

Once the article is finished, you can then click publish, and this will go to our review team who will then check this post for plagiarism and if the post meets our standards. Once the post is published it will show onto your news feed.

If you are having trouble finding your post after submission, please check here.

Rating a post.

Rating and being rated is a vital part of Trybe. Getting ratings on the content you create is a crucial way to earn tokens on the site. If you do not get involved with others and support content, then they are less likely to support you.
To rate someone else’s post, you need to scroll down to below the content but above the comments as seen in the picture.1.jpg

Giving a correct rating is a crucial way to make sure people earn what they deserve, and it is also a way to police the platform going forward. Lower ratings will take tokens away from a person so make sure you are choosing the correct option.

As of writing this (6th May 2019) the rating system is currently changing and is undergoing improvement so I will not go into specifics into what each person will earn from ratings. However knowing that 1/2* is counted as a downvote, 3* will not move someone’s tokens, and 4/5* is an upvote.

Why can I not see my published article?

If you have submitted an article and you cannot see this, then there are a few things you need to check to find out where the post is.
1.jpg
The first thing you will need to do is click on ‘Your Trybe’ at the top of the page as seen in the picture above. Once you have done this, you will need to click on ‘My Articles’. When you are on this page, you will see four tabs.

Published: This will show published articles from you that have been cleared from review. If your post is here, then you can click it and make sure it is all correct as this is now visible for everyone to read.

In Review: This will show all submitted articles that are in a queue for review. If you have submitted a post for review and it is still in here for a while, then please be patient as sometimes it can take a while. If the post has been in here for over 24 hours, then feel free to contact an admin or submit a Zendesk support ticket to find out if there is an issue.

Bookmarks: These are posts you have bookmarked for future viewing. The bookmark feature is fantastic if you are learning a specific subject and want to keep learning from the same person.

Draft: This is where you will see all posts you have saved for future edits, but it will also show you posts which have been refused by a reviewer. If the post is in here after submitting then please go into the post and in the title, it should say (Please see editors note) and also at the top of the post, there should have been some information the reviewer has added for you to read. Please read this carefully and fix any issues before resubmitting.

If the post you submitted is not in any of these, you can contact an admin or submit a Zendesk support ticket.

What is the best way to make my EOS account secure from hackers?

There are a numbers of ways to help secure your EOS from hackers.

  1. Don’t use the same key for your active and owner keys.
  2. Always keep your owner private key safe and offline, only ever enter it into Scatter or an EOS wallet if you need to change the permissions on your account.
  3. Do not blindly sign a transaction, always read the text and only sign transactions you understand.
  4. Stake your EOS or use REX to lockup and lend your EOS to give you some time to change your active key in the event of someone gaining access to your active key to unstake your EOS.
  5. Frequently scan your computer for viruses and malware.
  6. Do not click links or download files someone sends you unless you are 100% sure they are safe and trusted. Note that Trybe staff will never private message you to ask you to download files or click links.

See this article for additional information on keeping your EOS safe and secure:
